Watercolor Helping Me Grow Birthday Card and Video

Hi, Stampers 🙂

I love to watercolor and this Helping Me Grow stamp set from Stampin’ Up! is perfect.  I know many of you are intimidated by the water coloring process, but, trust me, it is so very simple!!

With just a tiny bit of practice and the right tools, you too can watercolor like a pro!

It is so important to use the correct paper.  I use Strathmore Ready Cut Watercolor cold press paper.  I like the bright white color and how well it takes to either a lot or a small amount of water.  True, if you flood it with water, it will warp. But, all you need to do is roll it between your hands and the warping is much less noticeable. I adhere it to my card stock layers with 3M Scotch Foam Mounting Tape.  Both of these products can be purchased through Amazon.

Really like the added detail that the small pearls provide.

I stamped and colored the inside of my card.  You may also notice, that I used the Clear Wink of Stella to provide a little shimmer.

I stamped the label in Old Olive then applied a wash of the same color, before stamping the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant.

Here are some additional cute ideas for the Helping Me Grow stamp set . . .

It’s Masculine Monday — Wetlands Window Birthday Card and Video

Hi, Stampers  🙂

I love an unusual, but simple, masculine card and I think this really works!  Recently, I have seen several cards on the internet with a window sheet placed between two pieces of card stock to create a view to the inside of the card.

I put my heavyweight white card stock in my trimmer and removed a 1/2″ piece, then I removed an additional 1-1/4″ piece.  The 1-1/4′ space will form the window and the 1/2″ piece will adhere to the window sheet to create the full sized card.

I added two strips of 3M Post-it-Note tape to mask off an area for sponging my background.

After sponging, I stamped the grass (reed) stamp with Old Olive ink to create a background for the Canada Goose.

Here is a view of the completed card. I love the clean look to this card!!

With this view, you can see the Canada Goose mounted to the front of the card.

One last look at the completed card.  So perfect for that special guy in your life.  Now, go and make one!

Looking for a bright and cheerful birthday card?   Then this one is for you.  Do you remember the Mary Engelbreit calendars, fabric, and craft items?  I use to smile every time I saw them!  This card is my ode to Mary, LOVE the colors.

I like the continuity of an overall all “round” theme:  button, balloon, Decorative Dots embossing folder, and polka dot Basic Black Designer Series Paper.

This card just makes me happy!

Because the balloon is such a large surface, it can sometimes be difficult to achieve a consistent inking.  So, I got out my MISTI to help me get that perfect stamped image.

As you can see, my first attempt was not perfect.

Got to love the MISTI!!   You can get additional information at their website  www.mysweetpetunia.com

Measurements for this card:

  • Real Red card stock –  5 1/2 x 8 1/2   score at 4 1/4
  • Whisper White card stock – 2 1/2 x 4 5/8; scrap for balloon
  • Cucumber Crush card stock – 2 5/8 x 4 3/4
  • Neutrals DSP (Basic Black) – 1 x 5 1/4; 1/2 x 4
