It’s Masculine Monday — How about a shiny birthday card for your fella?

Finally, cooler weather has started arriving and I’m now all about the crisp, cool, days and nights of autumn.

I am finding that the Vintage Leaves stamp set from Stampin’ Up! is just perfect for fall and masculine cards.

I just love how the gold embossed leaf and sentiment, the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum, and the gold foil paper add such a classic, sophisticated look to this card.  Your fella is going to LOVE it!

Have you embossed a card lately?  Many years ago I think I heat embossed every card I made.  I just loved the look and was so very intrigued and spellbound the way the image became so shiny and beautiful when heat was applied.

If you haven’t used this technique in a while . . . now is the time!  Go get that heat gun, versamark pad, some embossing powder and go to town on your next card.

Now, sit back and enjoy my how to video . . .

Don’t really need a birthday card?  Well, you could also change the
sentiment from Happy Birthday to Give Thanks and this would be a
fabulous Thanksgiving card.

Whatever type of card you need.  I do hope you will give this a try!

It’s Masculine Monday — Are you ready for a vacation?

Are you ready to pack you bags and take a trip?  What if you could spin the globe and go anywhere you want?  Where would you go?

I think I would go back to Walt Disney World.  Mother and I went there in 2006. Wow, I can’t believe it was 9 years ago!  We stayed at the Wild Animal Park, how amazing was it to have giraffes roaming around just outside our hotel room.  Such wonderful memories. . .would definitely do it again!!

You can check out a couple of my previous posts using the Traveler stamp set from Stampin’ Up! here and here.

Maybe, it is time for you to pack you bags and plan your perfect trip. . . Well, until you can actually go on your dream vacation, why not sit back and enjoy my how to video

Check out these amazing cards I found on the web!  Every one has used gold in a different, but stunning way!  LOVE them!

  • Allison Okamitsu of Nice People Stamp used gold in her designer series paper and sentiment
  • I found Shadow’s card on Splitcoaststampers. She is using a technique called “Faux Cloisonne”. She used the gold in a variety of ways:  embossing, card stock, stamping and a button embellishment.  Oh my goodness. . .isn’t her card just stunning?
  • Finally, I just love Donna Mikasa of Three Umbrellas use of gold on the tip of the feather and sentiment.

All in all, such lovely examples of how to bring some gold and glitz to your cards!

Hope all of this is inspiring to you!  We all need a little sparkly in our lives!!  So, grab a variety of gold products and go to town on your next card.

It’s Masculine Monday – Wishing for Autumn

Welcome to today’s “It’s Masculine Monday” card and video

Yep, it true! I am so done with Summer!  So . . . here is my ode to Fall.

In an effort to avoid this relentless heat (both day and night) I am diving into autumn, come, join me.

I am thinking of slightly warm days with cool, crisp nights, comforters on the bed, fires in the fire place, NOT in the surrounding community.  Oh my gosh, every day smoke, smoke and more smoke. Now back to my day dream . . . leaves turning beautiful colors, fragrant candles burning, apple cider warming on the stove, I think you get my drift.  Fall simply cannot get here soon enough!

For this card, I did a lot of burnishing work.  Some may call it sponging, but when I am really working the colors into the card stock, I call it burnishing.

I cut the leaf out with the coordinating Leaflets Framelits by Stampin’ Up!, covered it with Versamark ink, ultra thick clear embossing powder and embossed it with my heat gun. Then, while still warm, I lightly sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

I especially like how the black lines set off the burnished area.

Sit back and enjoy my how to video . . .

While meandering around Pinterest I found some interesting cards using leaf images.  Enjoy!

  • I really like Nance’s use of the corrugated paper it is such a great backdrop to the leaves! You can see her work at Canopy Crafts
  • Do you like the “splodge” background on Clare’s card. I have never heard that term, but I like it!  You can find additional details on her blog Crafting Clare’s Paper Moments.
  • Julie used one of my favorite stamp sets, Gorgeous Grunge, to give interest to her background she colored the leaf with Pumpkin Pie ink. . .so striking. Stamping with Julie Gearinger

It’s Masculine Monday — Sponging and Copic Coloring Card and Video

Hi Stampers 🙂

Welcome to “It’s Masculine Monday” so glad you stopped by.

I knew the moment I saw the From Land to Sea stamp set from Stampin’ Up! that I had to have it. This is one of the most perfect stamp set for making masculine cards. So many great designs for that special guy in your life!

The card design really gave me the opportunity to sponge a great background and to get out my Copic markers and color the sea turtles.  I am so very pleased with the outcome.

The sponged background may seem a little daunting, but I KNOW you can do it!! Just give it a try!

Are you new to the world of Copics? Check out my video to see just how easy they are to use.
