Stampin’ Up! — Walk in the Wild

Hi Stampers!
Welcome to today’s “It’s Masculine Monday” birthday card  🙂

I have always liked the look of blueprints created by architects. Many years ago Stampin’ Up! had a stamp set called Architectural Elements that looked like drawings of a variety of buildings and building structures. When that set was available I used this Cyanotype Technique quite frequently. This technique emulates the photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers and architects have used this process as a simple and low-cost process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints. Today when checking out a couple of SU! blogs, I came across a card created by Amanda Sevall using this technique. And I was reminded of those cards of long ago, so I just had to CASE the card! Thanks Amanda for the GREAT inspiration!!

First, I stamped the moose image from the Walk in the Wild stamp set with VersaMark on watercolor paper, then I applied white embossing powder. Don’t forget to use your embossing buddy!!

I embossed the image with my heat tool and mounted it on a piece of heavy cardboard with washi tape.

I put 2 drops of Night of Navy refill ink in a paint pallet and added 3-4 drops of water. I used my Aqua Painter to apply the ink to my watercolor paper. When the color looked too light I just went over it again and again, until I was happy with the depth of color. I wiped the ink off the embossed image with a tissue.

Finally, to add some interest, I stamped the blue area with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using a Night of Navy stamp pad.

I am so pleased with the finished card. If you need any supplies to create your own Cyanotype Technique card, don’t forget that My Stampin’ Up! Online Store is open 24/7.

Stampin’ Up! — Celebrate Today

Hi Stampers!
Welcome to today’s birthday card  🙂

This birthday card is so fun and colorful. I definitely appreciate having dies that match the stamp set. . .they really help pull the card together.

With this Celebrate Today stamp set and Balloons Framelits dies from Stampin’ Up! you can make some great cards. The set includes several different sentiments: wedding, baby, graduation, birthday, and celebrate, which makes it a fabulous choice for a variety of occasions!

Did you notice the touches of gold in the Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper (DSP)? To help compliment it, I added a Gold Foil card stock layer. So shiny and bright!

I made the “birthday” banner by repeating the sentiment on a thin strip of Whisper White card stock. I wanted it to look like it was streaming from the balloon. Overall, I pretty pleased with this whimsical birthday card. Hope you also enjoyed it and will make one of your own.,

Many of the items I used today can be found in the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Occasions catalog. You can purchase from the catalog until June 2, 2015, after that there is no guarantee that the products will move into the new 2015-2016 Annual Catalog to be released on June 2, 2015. So, if you really want to purchase these items. . .now is the time!
